Tuesday, Oct. 14, twenty-six Littles, Bigs, Parents and staff filled the local BBBS office eager to attend the first Story Buddies group.  Mr. Bill, (Bill VanKeuren) CEO/Chief Librarian of the Hanover Public Library and famed "story teller", captivated the entire group telling story after story.  His animated antics mesmerized both young and old as tales of The Paper Bag Princess, Mr. Walduck's Dog and Wolves came to life. 

October is Canadian Library month, a fitting time to introduce Story Buddies.  Thanks toScholastic Books, who donated hundreds of books to the BBBS agency, the children in the agency can begin their own library.  Following Mr. Bill's story telling, the children were invited to choose 3 books from the vast new library.   Each time one of our Littles does a book review on one of the new books, they will be able to come choose another new book.  Some of the reviews will be added to the web under the heading, Book Reviews. These can be in the form of a picture, comments on the book or a full book report. If the children need help from mom, dad or grandma, no problem. 

A special thanks to our Senior Littles who buddied up with a younger Little, sitting with them during Story time, helping them choose their books and reading to them.  They were able to add this time toward the required volunteer hours for high school graduation. 

Let's encourage our kids to use this opportunity to discover and celebrate this wonderful world of stories and books.
